Young man drowns in lake after jumping in Outaouais

A 21-year old man drowned in Lac St-Pierre in Val-des-Monts in the Outaouais. The man was at a friend’s party on private land when he decided to perform a somersault into the lake around midnight.

Watery ordeal

The man did not surface and according to the MRC des Collines police Sergeant Daniel Parizeau, none of his friends were able to rescue him.

During water emergencies such as near drowning, it requires immediate CPR.

The divers from the Surete du Quebec were able to retrieve the body of the young man from Ottawa around 11 AM close to the place where he jumped into the water.

The police suspect that alcohol might have a contributing role in the drowning incident. The investigators are attempting to figure out the circumstances of the drowning.

During water emergencies such as near drowning, it requires immediate CPR. Timely delivery of the life-saving technique can greatly increase the chances of survival.
