Rifle-toting police gathered in a Baltimore suburb where a female office was fatally shot. The police are searching for suspects believed to be armed after witnesses reported gunfire and seeing the officer run over by a Jeep.
The officer was badly injured. Several people attempted to keep her alive but she was later declared dead at a healthcare facility.
Untimely death of an officer
According to Logan Kurek, a volunteer firefighter, he heard his younger brother screaming and ran outside to perform CPR. Despite the delivery of CPR by bystanders, the officer did not make it.
According to police spokesman Cpl. Shawn Vinson, the officer was responding to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle when she encountered at least one suspect and was severely injured. The encounter might have started as a burglary in progress. One house on the block had damage to the patio door.
By Monday evening, the police stated that it was still too soon to determine exactly how the officer was fatally injured. But they confirmed a homicide investigation is ongoing.
A massive manhunt was started for several suspect. Canine and aviation units were involved which would continue through the night.
