Respiratory Mask Fitting

At Calgary First Aid we offer respiratory mask fit testing that meet academic and workplace requirements. Typical participants include nurses, health sciences students, and any workplaces where contamination is possible including workplaces with labs and isolation rooms. During fit testing participants will test seals with respirator face pieces on their face. In our qualitative fit tests, which is the most popular method for half-mask fit testing, students will learn to put on a respirator, position it on their face, adjust tension and determine the acceptable fit. When the appropriate mask size is fitted participants must wear the mask for at least 5 minutes to assess the comfort of the mask. Tests are then performed to check the pressures seals of the mask to ensure a proper fit. Popular mask tested include the N95 mask as well as many other half and full respiratory masks. Please ensure that you meet all required prerequisites prior to your appointment.
