The quick action by bystanders with the help of an AED save the life of a boy. The 16-year old Ottawa boy is alive due to the quick delivery of CPR and a public defibrillator.
Successful revival using an AED
The boy collapsed from a seizure while playing basketball at a school in Orleans. The boy went into cardiac arrest as a result. The bystanders started CPR immediately and restarted his heart with a single shock from a public defibrillator.
The boy was transferred to a healthcare facility for further treatment. According to the Ottawa paramedics, the immediate use of the defibrillator was instrumental in his survival.
