The Canadian Costco shoppers no longer need to wear face masks when entering the warehouse despite new rules coming into effect for U.S. stores as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting May 4, U.S. Costco members and guests are required to wear face masks to go on shopping. The masks must cover the mouth and nose the entire time they are inside the store.
Based on the statement by Langford Costco management, there are currently no face mask requirements for shoppers, although employees are required to wear masks. Other precautions remain in place at Costco, including a limitation on two individuals that are allowed entry with each membership card and limited services in some departments to lessen personal contact as well as create more space for social distancing.
Costco has also implement limits on some items and prohibited returns on specific products such as water, toilet paper, paper towels, sanitizing wipes, rice, and disinfecting spray.
Shoppers are also requested to observe social distancing by providing at least two meters of space between each person and to cover all sneezes and coughs with an elbow.
