Enrolling in a training course on CPR can help save lives. People listen when paramedic Kelly Dashney speaks. She saves lives for a living. She has worked with the medical team staffing NASCAR and Formula 1 events. She also teaches at John Abbot College and instructs citizens on basic life-saving techniques.
Importance of CPR training
The Hero in 30 workshops is divided into three 10-minute sections – CPR, AED and abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver). The participants of the session agreed that they felt more secure on what to do during emergencies after the workshop. They also learned the strength and speed needed to perform effective CPR chest compressions.

When to call 911?
The delivery of CPR keeps the oxygen flowing to the brain. During cardiac arrest, an individual has a reserve of between 4-6 minutes of oxygen in the blood. After this, the brain is deprived of oxygen and deterioration starts if chest compressions are not started.
When learning the Heimlich maneuver, participants practiced positioning their legs in a forward lunge position while creating a fist with one hand and pushing in and scooping up in a strong “J” motion right above the belly button.
In the past, the training can be complication. With years of research, the guidelines have changed. Back then, defibrillator training was only for doctors but today, everyone can learn how to use the device.
