According to RCMP, a 30-year old woman and 11-year old girl, both from Miami were part of a guided tour in the North Bench Trail area near Golden.
The RCMP confirmed that the two were traveling on the same machine. The snowmobile was one of a group of 10 on a guided tour by the Rocky Mountain Riders Snowmobile Tours and Rentals of Golden.
Immediate care
In a statement released by the company, the accident transpired when the snowmobile the woman was driving swerved from the indicated tour trail and crashed. At the site of the crash, the Rocky Mountain Riders staff performed CPR and other emergency measures, but when search and rescue crews arrived, both victims were declared dead.
The route was considered as a “gentle trail” and the snowmobiles are low-powered machines. The trail did not include precipitous conditions and guides were present at the lead and end of the group.
