Victim of surfing incident receives CPR

A 27-year old man died in a surfing accident despite CPR. The paramedics responded to an incident near Lovekin Rock. According to Cpl. Patrick Jenkins, speaking on behalf of the Tofino RCMP, the man died after a surfing accident, but the specific details on the root cause of death remain unknown.

The name of the man was not released. In an email sent to Westerly News, an area resident John de Vries stated that he was about to go for a walk along the beach with his son when he noticed a group of people gathered near Lovekin Rock.

He initially thought that it was only a group of newbie surfers and later realized that someone was getting CPR.
