A man was taken to a healthcare facility for a gunshot wound on his arm. The Abbotsford Police are attempting to figure out whether there are any links between a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning and one that occurred back in 2011 in the same area.
Circumstances of the shooting incident
Both incidents occurred in the 2500 block of Bradner Road. In the latest incident, the Abbotsford Police received a call around 2:30 AM from a resident who reported hearing several gunshots and the sound of one or more vehicles departing the area.
According to Const. Ian MacDonald, the police arrived on the scene to find a 24-year old man with a gunshot wound on his arm. The victim was in a Ford SUV with an unknown number of other people when the vehicle was shot several times.
The man was given first aid care and transported to a healthcare facility for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. During emergencies, first aid care is initially given until the individual is taken to a medical facility for further treatment. MacDonald added that the man has limited interaction with police and the backgrounds of other people at the scene are still under investigation.
The police cordoned off the road to traffic from south of Fraser Highway to Simpson Road for several hours as they investigated the incident.
The necessity of first aid training
During emergencies, you should be knowledgeable on basic first aid skills. You must enroll in first aid and CPR course to be prepared. You never know when emergencies occur and where.
