The police did not charge any of the participants during the event but recorded it with body-cameras and with notes.
Tickets were handed out to several organizers and attendees of a newly illegal anti-mask protest in downtown Calgary last weekend.
In at least one instance, police officers issuing the tickets were angrily greeted by a recipient who claimed the move was reminiscent of Nazism.
On Monday, the city officials stated that they would enforce new restrictions imposed last week by the UCP government that forbid indoor private social gatherings and limit outdoor ones to no more than 10 people in an effort to stem a fast-rising tide of COVID-19 cases, hospitalization, and deaths.
Several hundred people congregated by Municipal Plaza protesting what they called infringements on their civil liberties and livelihoods, while many of them dub the COVID-19 pandemic a hoax or overblown.
Three tickets were issued to people allegedly involved in the demonstration, while three others were being sought.
