The victim of shooting ordeal left a man in critical condition

A man in his 20s is in severe condition in a healthcare facility after a shooting incident. According to Sgt. Judy Bird, the Abbotsford Police Department got a 911 hang-up call at around 6:15 PM which alerted them to a possible shooting at a residence in the 2500 block of Birch Street in east Abbotsford.

Unexpected incident

The BC Ambulance Service arrived at the residence and found the man who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to a healthcare facility where he remains.

According to Bird, an 18-year old man was arrested at a different residence after the incident and remains under police custody. The victim and suspect knew each other and the shooting is not gang-related.

There are no further details regarding the case currently including the circumstances of the shooting incident. Bird added that the major crime detectives, forensic identification section, and patrol officers are investigating the case.
