The life of a man was saved with prompt delivery of CPR. Upon seeing a lifeless man in the ditch outside Calgary, Larissa Arthur jumped out of her vehicle. She drew her training as a nurse to deliver chest compressions and CPR to the stranger.
Timely intervention
It was late August and she was driving back from a hike with her friend. They were just outside Calgary when she spotted the man passed out in a ditch, with a bike nearby and he was wearing bright yellow spandex.
She quickly got to work and within 2 minutes, another nurse and first responder also arrived to help. It was after 15 minutes when the EMS arrived and shocked the man twice in an attempt to revive him.

With no signs of life, the man was transported by the emergency crews to a healthcare facility. Arthur stated that she did not think that the man was going to make it.
Out of the blue, she reconnected with the man via a social media message.
