Shooting incident left a man dead

The Calgary police homicide unit investigates a shooting that left one man dead. The emergency crews responded to a call to the 4600 block of Bowness Road N.W. regarding reports of a man in medical distress.

Upon the arrival of the police, they found a man in his 40s with severe injuries from the shooting. The man was rushed to a healthcare facility for emergency care but he was declared dead shortly after.

Unexpected shooting ordeal

According to Staff Sgt. Kevin Dyrgas, the shooting might be targeted. No one is in custody for having a connection to the incident. The police have not identified the offender yet and it is not a random event.

A woman was taken in for questioning from the shooting site. The road between 45th Street and 46th Street was cordoned off with crime-scene tape and traffic was diverted. The investigators are talking to witnesses and canvasing the businesses in the area.

The identity of the victim is expected to be released after completion of the autopsy early this week.

The necessity of first aid training

During emergencies, you should be knowledgeable on basic first aid skills. You must enroll in first aid and CPR course to be prepared. You never know when emergencies occur and where.
