Qualitative Mask Fit Testing in Calgary, Alberta

Calgary First Aid provides professional respiratory mask fit testing that meets both academic and workplace safety requirements. This service is ideal for nurses, health science students, and professionals working in environments where contamination is possible, such as laboratories and isolation rooms.

Our respiratory mask fitting process ensures a secure and proper seal between the respirator and the wearer’s face. During our qualitative fit tests — the most common method for half-mask fit testing — participants will learn how to properly don the mask, position it correctly, adjust tension, and evaluate the fit.

Once the appropriate mask size is selected, participants must wear the mask for at least 5 minutes to assess its comfort and fit. We then conduct a series of tests to check the mask’s pressure seal and ensure it provides effective protection. Common masks tested include the N95 and a variety of other half-face and full-face respirators.
