Right after 2 AM, police report that 2 groups of men got into a dispute close to a taxi stand at the Plaza of Nations and a fight began.

Crime scene

At the scene 3 men in their 20s sustained stab wounds and one of the men, 25-year old Hansen Jia Chen died. Before the arrival of the police or paramedics on the area, an unidentified woman who witnesses claim identified herself as a BCIT nursing practicum student who delivered first aid care to Chen.

The second victim, a 23-year old man was given treatment in a healthcare facility. The third man who appeared at Burnaby General Hospital a few hours after the incident also had stab wounds was transferred to the Royal Columbian Hospital for treatment of severe, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The police are interested in speaking to the woman who assisted Chen as a witness to the altercation. So far, the police reported that they are unable to identify her and appealing to the public hoping that she will come forward.
