Neighbors Attempt CPR After 32-Year-Old Man Shot in Rundle Heights
Edmonton police continue to investigate the tragic shooting death of 32-year-old Clinton Roderick Roasting, who was fatally injured outside a Rundle Heights housing complex near 32 Street and 116A Avenue. Emergency crews arrived shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Monday, but despite attempts to revive him, Roasting died at the scene.
According to the Edmonton Journal’s full report, the incident has been declared a homicide as police continue to search for a suspect.
Neighbours Tried to Save His Life
Before paramedics arrived, a man who lived nearby—along with several neighbours—attempted CPR in a desperate effort to keep Roasting alive. Their quick action shows how important it is for community members to know first aid, especially during critical emergencies when every second counts.

Family Shocked by Sudden Loss
Roasting’s cousin, Janelle Littlechild, described the loss as overwhelmingly painful.
She said he was outgoing, always smiling, and deeply committed to helping his mother and his five children. She shared that she will “cherish” her last day with him, not imagining she would lose him so soon.
Hoping for a Fresh Start
Though Roasting had previous legal troubles, Littlechild said he was trying to change his life for the better. Court records show he had spent time in jail for aggravated assault after mistakenly believing a taxi driver had kidnapped him.
His death marks Edmonton’s 21st homicide of the year.
