Sydney’s Civic Centre houses 2 automated external defibrillators (AEDs). This allows better response in case of a medical emergency according to CBRM Mayor Cecil Clarke.
Availability of AEDs
Training is underway to ensure that people who work in the building know how to use the life-saving AEDs which were only recently placed at city hall.
When something arises and one has a sudden health issue, there are individuals who are ready to respond.
At a council meeting, Dist. 4 Councilor Steve Gillespie collapsed. A call was quickly made to bring an AED to the scene in case it was needed, although it was not used and calls were made quickly to 911 for an ambulance. The staff also undergoes first aid and CPR training.
