Good Samaritan’s CPR Helps Save a Man’s Life in Simcoe
A recent incident in Simcoe, Ontario, is a powerful reminder of how important basic first aid and CPR skills can be.
On a Wednesday evening, just before 6 p.m., emergency crews were called to a home on Robinson Street in Simcoe for a man who had collapsed. He was found on the ground, unresponsive and without a pulse.
When an OPP officer arrived, they discovered a bystander — a true Good Samaritan — already performing CPR. The officer immediately took over chest compressions and continued CPR until paramedics could transport the man by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
At the local hospital, medical staff were able to regain a pulse. The man was then transferred to a Hamilton-area hospital for further care.
According to Norfolk County OPP, the early CPR provided by the Good Samaritan was instrumental in saving this man’s life. Police are now hoping to find and personally thank this individual and are asking them to contact the Norfolk County OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.You can read the original Global News report here:

Why this story matters
This real-life event demonstrates what we emphasize in every first aid and CPR class:
Every minute counts. When someone loses their pulse, CPR helps keep oxygen moving until advanced medical care arrives.
Bystanders save lives. Often, the first person on scene isn’t a healthcare provider—it’s an everyday person nearby.
Anyone can learn CPR. With proper training, you can act confidently and effectively during an emergency.
The Good Samaritan in this case acted immediately, and that quick response made a significant difference in the man’s outcome.
Could you do the same?
