The chief medical officer of health in New Brunswick now recommends using non-medical face masks in public spaces such as pharmacies or grocery stores to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Members of the general public can cover their faces with homemade face masks or another type of covering to limit the chance of spreading the virus to others. The change in position is based on the latest information about asymptomatic and pre-asymptomatic patients. The face-covering prevents you from infecting others.
Over the weekend, chief medical officers of health across Canada reviewed the latest evidence-based on information around face masks.
Although New Brunswick appears in many ways to fare better than other areas, with relatively low case numbers, few hospital admissions, and community transmissions, it is not the time to relax.
