Man Identified After Being Dropped Off at Calgary Health Centre With Fatal Gunshot Wound

A man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head was dropped off at the Sheldon Chumir Health Centre on Monday night in what police believe to be a shooting incident. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Itgel Baatarsuren of Calgary.

According to police, the individual who brought Baatarsuren to the health centre fled the scene in a white Pontiac G5. Baatarsuren was quickly transported to Foothills Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators are asking for witnesses who may have seen the white Pontiac G5 in the 900 block of 26th Street N.E. between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Monday. Police believe the shooting occurred in a nearby parking lot shortly before 9 p.m.

Later that evening, officers located what they believe to be the same vehicle on 17th Avenue S.W. One man who was taken into custody for questioning was released on Tuesday.

A friend who attended Ernest Manning High School with Baatarsuren described him as a cheerful and supportive person who was well-liked by many.
“His death will have affected a lot of people just because of how good a guy he was to everyone he encountered,” said Mo Ellahib. “Hopefully his family finds closure.”
