Lethbridge First Responders Save 19-Year-Old After Fentanyl Overdose
A 19-year-old man is alive today thanks to the quick response of Lethbridge police officers and paramedics following a suspected fentanyl overdose late Saturday night.
According to the Lethbridge Police Service, officers responded to a report of a suspicious individual in the 500 block of 6th Avenue South at approximately 11 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the young man unconscious, without a pulse, and not breathing.
Immediate CPR Saved His Life
Recognizing the severity of the situation, police officers immediately began performing CPR until paramedics arrived on scene. The man was then transported to Chinook Regional Hospital, where he was fully revived.
In a news release, police warned the public once again about the deadly nature of fentanyl, stating there is no safe amount. Authorities noted that a dosage equivalent to just two grains of salt can be fatal.
