Man in Serious Condition After Stabbing in West Edmonton; Police Performed CPR Until EMS Arrival
The quick delivery of CPR can make a critical difference during life-threatening emergencies. This was demonstrated in west Edmonton when police officers performed CPR on a 32-year-old man who had been stabbed during a physical altercation.
According to the Edmonton Police Service, officers were called around 2:45 p.m. to a weapons complaint at a business near 157 Street and Stony Plain Road. Police say the injured man, suffering from stab wounds, entered the business seeking medical help.
Officers immediately provided CPR until EMS arrived. The man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and by Wednesday afternoon, he remained in stable condition.
Police did not specify the exact location where the stabbing occurred. However, the Jasper Place Transit Centre was cordoned off with police tape and temporarily closed to the public later that day. Transit inspectors were on-site assisting passengers in reaching alternate bus stops
