Haggie informed the CBC that he simply followed the routine life support training. His role was a coincidence. Through the aide, Haggie referred additional questions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation to talk about the importance of CPR training.

Haggie is a general and vascular surgeon originally from Manchester, England. He served as the president of the Canadian Medical Association and even elected to the provincial legislature in 2015.
