A man drowned at an apartment swimming pool in Regina despite efforts of his friend. The incident occurred at the indoor pool next to 2830 Gordon Rd. in the south end of the city. A physically disable friend attempted to save the man.
Saving a friend
According to the building manager, the 2 men were at the poolside when one of them jumped into the deep end and experienced some form of difficulty in the water. In just minutes, the man was dead after apparently from drowning.

When the man was thrashing around, the other man uses a wheelchair and went into the water along with his chair to help him.
The disabled man brought a life preserver but the friend was panicking and could not hold it. Instead, he grabbed the disabled man and pushed him under.
The disabled man managed to move out of the pool and crawl across the floor to get to a phone. The emergency crews were sent to the scene but unable to resuscitate the man in the pool with CPR. The name of the man who died was not released.
