A 23-year old victim, Nicholas Gibbs has an extensive criminal record. According to the witnesses, it was a chaotic scene in Notre-Dame-de-Grace when the Montreal police shot and killed a 23-year old man who threatens the officers with a knife.
It was around 8:15 PM when the Montreal police were called to the corner of Montclair Ave and de Maisonneuve Blvd. where 2 men were fighting.
Night disruption
The incident developed right outside Gabriel Cyr’s apartment. He heard a man screaming and someone on the phone calling the police. After 2-3 minutes, shots were heard.
According the Montreal police, upon the arrival of the officers on the scene, one of the involved in the fight, Gibbs, turned on officers with a knife. The police were unsuccessful in subduing the man with a Taser before resorting to their sidearms. Gibbs was later transported to a healthcare facility but later declared dead.
