CPR performed on teen after unconscious in a pool

A 15-year old died despite delivery of CPR after found unconscious in the Montreal pool. Mohamed Ndimurwanko was spending time with friends when at some point, he was at the bottom of the pool in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

The 15-year old boy’s father stated that he was trying to figure out how it could have happened. His son knows how to swim.

Watery ordeal

Mohamed was found unconscious in the public pool in Dudemaine Street shortly before midnight. His father stated that his son died in a healthcare facility on Sunday afternoon.

According to the authorities, the circumstances surrounding what occurred remains uncertain. The father is hoping the police will investigate the case further. His father stated that according to his son’s friends, Mohamed left the group to get water a short time before he was found in the pool.

According to Stephan Gascon, operations chief for Urgences-Sante, a call to 911 was received and the police were the first to arrive on the scene. The teenager was taken out of the pool by the police officers. CPR was performed on the boy and transported to a healthcare facility.

Time to learn CPR

Both young and old should learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by enrolling in a first aid class. The life-saving technique can save lives if it is executed promptly. Timely delivery of the technique increases the chances of survival during emergencies.
