A 6-year old child who was found in a creek was given CPR.

RCMP Supt. Chris Kennedy stated that this is a most tragic incident. The boy whose name was not released, was reported missing in the Bowron Court area of North Vancouver. RCMP, North Shore Rescue and BC Ambulance Service were called to help find him.

The Mounties found the child unresponsive in the creek minutes after arriving and performed CPR until he could be airlifted to a healthcare facility, but it was too late. Authorities warn that creeks and rivers are swollen and fast-running due to heavy rainfall and must be avoided.

The North Vancouver RCMP is continuing to investigate but the case will be handed over to the BC Coroners Service.
