The public health chief of Canada states that hospitals should not throw away used masks and other protective equipment since experts are looking to see if they can be disinfected and reused.
The protection of health care workers is a priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are at least 14,426 cases of the virus in Canada and 258 deaths. Most of the recorded deaths are among aged 80 or older.
More than 323, 000 people have been tested with just over 4% positive for the virus. When asked about using masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is still important to observe physical distancing by two meters and self-isolation. Using a mask is an extra measure to protect those around you.
When it comes to keeping up with the mask supplies, there is work underway in search of the best science that can be utilized to decontaminate used masks and other equipment. There are companies in Canada with the capacity to do so if science can be proven.
