Teen in Serious Condition After Medical Emergency at Sunnyside Park Pool
Quick and confident first aid—especially CPR—can make a life-saving difference during an emergency. This was the case at Sunnyside Park swimming pool, where a 14-year-old boy was left in serious condition after going into medical distress while swimming with friends.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene near Lakeshore Boulevard and Parkside Drive at around 6:40 p.m. Lifeguards immediately performed CPR when they realized the teen was unresponsive.
According to paramedics, the boy appeared to have suffered a head injury. When first responders arrived, he had no vital signs, but paramedics were able to regain them before transporting him to St. Michael’s Hospital trauma centre.
CPR Matters: Every Second Counts
Although CPR cannot guarantee a full recovery, it greatly increases the chances of survival by keeping blood flowing to the brain and vital organs until advanced medical help arrives.
