Eight-year-old child given CPR after canoeing incident

An eight-year-old child was given CPR after a canoeing incident. The incident occurred on a northern Alberta lake.

The RCMP and Fish and Wildlife responded to Poplar Point situated on the northeast side of Lac La Biche Lake, after family and friends could not locate two children, aged 13 and 8 when the winds strengthened and a storm moved in.

The teenager was found unharmed and transported to a hospital for examination. The eight-year-old child was found a short time later unresponsive. The child was given CPR and transported to a hospital. Sadly, the child was declared dead.
