Double Shooting in Quiet Surrey Neighbourhood Highlights Importance of Emergency Response Skills
A normally peaceful Surrey community was shaken after a double shooting late Friday evening in Fraser Heights. Surrey RCMP were called to the scene shortly after 7 p.m., responding to reports of gunfire near 159 Street and 110 Avenue — an area known more for family homes and quiet streets than violent crime.

What Happened
According to early reports, two men were discovered inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Police, firefighters, and paramedics arrived quickly, working urgently to stabilize both victims. Despite their efforts, one man was pronounced dead at the scene and covered by investigators.
The second victim was found with life-threatening injuries. Photos from the scene show first responders performing CPR as he was moved into an ambulance before being rushed to hospital in critical condition.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) later confirmed they had taken over the case and would release further updates as more information becomes available.
A Reminder of How Critical CPR Can Be
While the incident remains under investigation, one detail stands out: paramedics were performing CPR on the surviving victim before departure from the scene.
This highlights a vital truth — CPR can make a life-or-death difference when someone’s heart has stopped or when trauma leads to cardiac arrest. Early CPR helps keep blood circulating to the brain and organs until advanced medical care takes over.
Emergencies are unpredictable, and immediate, trained action can significantly improve outcomes.
