After a call from a young girl, an unresponsive babysitter was given prompt CPR. The babysitter was found unresponsive in a backyard pool.
Watery ordeal
According to the York Regional Police, members of the Central York Fire Services were the first to arrive at the house on Arnold Crescent. A firefighter dove into the pool and pulled the woman out. The firefighter initiated CPR until the arrival of the paramedics.
The overall condition of the woman could not be confirmed but the life-saving measures are being continued at a healthcare facility. The next of kin has been notified.
The child who called 911 attempted to rescue the babysitter. Her age is not being released. The police are treating this as an accident. There was no party going on at the time and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. It remains unclear how the woman entered the pool and foul play is not suspected.
