A 42-year old man was given CPR after a stabbing incident. The man is in a healthcare facility in critical condition after he was stabbed by another passenger on a transit bus.
Stabbing incident
The Richmond RCMP responded to several 911 calls regarding an incident on a Coast Mountain bus. A video on social media revealed that the paramedics were performing CPR on the victim in the doorway of the vehicle.
The violence broke out just before 2 PM. The bus pulled over across the street from the Aberdeen Canada Line station. The RCMP shut down No. 3 Road, Eastbound, near Cambie Road for several hours while they investigated. The officers seized the vehicle so they could collect forensic evidence. The investigation shut down the nearby Domo Gas station for all of the afternoon and much of the evening.
It has been alleged that a physical altercation occurred between two passengers. The police are uncertain about what sparked the flight or if the pair knew each other.
One passenger, a 42-year old male from Richmond was transported to hospital by emergency medical personnel suffering from critical stab wounds. A 22-year old Richmond man was arrested.
Several of the passengers on board the bus left before the police arrived. Investigators are asking those witnesses to come forward.
