A man is dead and a woman in serious condition after a three-car-crash on the Malahat. According to the British Columbia Emergency Health Services they were sent to the northbound lane of the Vancouver Island near Aspen Road of Victoria. They confirmed one person is dead. The dead man has been identified as David James Tilley, and he is 46 years old. He is the son of a former councilor of the city.
Prompt delivery of CPR
According to a witness, Lizy Gipson and her partner, they were on the road and saw a vehicle going south with minor damage. The traffic suddenly stopped, and she got out of the car and check if her training on first aid could be use. There were plenty of car parts scattered across the highway. A minivan-type vehicle can be seen in the middle of the highway and another car near a ditch. There were two people inside in one of the vehicle. The man was severely injured and the woman in the passenger seat and identified herself as the wife of the injured man was also injured but still conscious. Both victims could not be removed from the car. Gipson immediately provided first aid and CPR on the man. Three other men joined her in providing CPR on the victim. All the four of them was not giving up on the victim.
The paramedics arrived and took over the situation. They provided first aid and CPR to the victims and they removed the woman inside the vehicle and she was placed on a stretcher. The man was never revived and was declared dead on the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Vehicular accident
According to the police, the car crash happened in a construction area with 60 km/hr restrictions. They have no idea what caused the accident. The highway was closed temporarily and will fully reopen in the evening. The drivers and people in the area should expect delays.
The man who died is David James Tilley. He was 46 years old, son of Bruce Tilley, who was a former councilor in the city for two decades.
