Watery disaster

According to Cpl. Michael McLaughlin, the victim services are helping the family through the heartbreaking time.

This incident just occurred a month after a 19-year old Surrey man was also involved in a drowning incident in the same lake. Porato reminds everybody to take the necessary precautions in the water.

The Buntzen Lake is a beautiful area but it is important to be aware of your surroundings. He added that it is a water reservoir, thus it gets deep quickly. The water can be shallow on the first 30 feet or so from the shore but it rapidly drops and it is over 100 feet of water. He recommends using a personal flotation device in the water or swimming in pairs if both are strong swimmers.
