A team of women at a polling place saved a life. These women helped save a man who was suffering a heart attack while voting in the nation’s capital.
According to WTOP-FM, a 75-year old retired custodian at Barnard Elementary School collapsed on Tuesday while voting in a polling place within the school. The election observer Allie Bobak, assistant principal Maribel Vargus and school counsellor Sandra Montgomery were quick in helping the man.
Timely rescue
The first moved was to call for 911 and were given instructions to deliver CPR which they took turns for several minutes. An automated external defibrillator (AED) was also used on the man before the arrival of the emergency team.
Christopher Boyette, D.C. firefighter and paramedic credits the women’s teamwork for helping in restoring the man’s breathing and regain consciousness by the time they arrived.
