The BC Coroners Service is investigating the case of a 28-year old man who went into cardiac arrest. The man was hiking near Norvan Falls in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park on Sunday when he experienced cardiac arrest.
The coroners service gave confirmation that the man died. The man was airlifted from the area in severe condition.
Outdoor crisis
According to NSR team leader, Mike Danks, the victim was crossing a creek when he slipped and fell, striking his head. This quickly led to cardiac arrest. His hiking partner ran seven kilometers to ask for help since there was no cell phone reception in the area.
The North Shore Rescue received a call for help around 6 PM. A helicopter was used to find the victim who was quickly rescued with a long line after the emergency responders attached an automatic CPR device on the man. According to Danks, the man was given the best care and he was proud on how the team responded to the incident.
